Sarah Burton has been named the new Creative Director of Alexander McQueen. She will now be in charge of the creative direction and development of all collections.
Burton said, “The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee’s vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy.”
She was formerly the head of design for the label’s women’s wear line since 2000 and has been with the label, working alongside McQueen himself, since 1996. She was responsible for completing McQueen’s final collection, which was shown at the Fall 2010 Paris Fashion Week to much applause.
Best of luck to Ms. Burton!
